Brewood and Bishops Wood both have beautiful and ancient churches which are available for your wedding ceremony. At a church wedding you will have a lovely and historic setting with the majesty and meaning of a Christian marriage service.
For your special day we will provide guidance to help you put together a service that reflects your particular choices for hymns and prayers. There will be personal support from the church minister conducting your service. We ask that you both take part in a day’s marriage preparation, where you have the chance to think about your marriage as well as your wedding service.
So if you would like to make an enquiry about how we can help you then please contact the Vicar – Contacts
We look forward to hearing from you.
Can I get married at Brewood or Bishops Wood?
You are welcome to marry in church whether or not you regularly attend services.
You can marry in a CofE church if you can show that one of you:
- has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
- was baptised in the parish concerned or
- was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
- has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
Or if you can show that one of your parents, at any time after you were born:
- has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
- has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
Or that one of your parents or grandparents:
- was married in the parish
If you have none of the above qualifying connections with Brewood or Bishops Wood, a further option is to create a connection by attending services regularly for at least six months. After that, you will then be able to have your banns read out at the church, which will take another month or so to sort out before the big day. Please contact Phil (the Vicar) well in advance to discuss the options open to you.
